Thank you for your investment in our community!
The Skagit Valley Family YMCA is committed to Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. By donating to Greatest Need, the YMCA is able to use the funds where the need is greatest.
YMCA Oasis Teen Shelter
The YMCA Oasis Teen Shelter provides short-term emergency shelter to youth ages 13-17 and is the only homeless shelter dedicated for youth in Skagit County. Each teen meets with a Case Manager regularly and together they work on transitioning the youth to safe and appropriate long term housing. Education is emphasized, with each youth required to attend school or pursue alternative learning. The Daylight Center provides a safe place for teens to gather during the day for meals, arts and crafts, educational workshops and a computer lab for vocational and academic support. Your support of the YMCA Oasis Teen Shelter and Daylight Center ensures that the program will continue to operate 365 days per year and continue providing this vital resource in our community.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
The LIVESTRONG Foundation and the Skagit Valley Family YMCA have partnered to offer a FREE 12-week physical activity and wellness program for adults with cancer that are undergoing or have completed active cancer treatment. Your support helps ensure that more cancer patients and survivors can experience the support, exercise and encouragement that participants receive.
Youth Sports Program Scholarships
Approximately 1,000 families participate in our Youth Sports program annually. The Y nurtures the potential of children through our Youth Sports programming by strengthening character in our youth, engaging families, and building lasting relationships. Participants in these programs build skills, learn about teamwork and focus on sportsmanship. Your support provides scholarships to allow youth to participate in sports and activities that they would otherwise not be able to do.
Child Care Scholarships
The Skagit Valley Family YMCA is one of the largest child care providers in the Skagit Valley. People trust us because we care for and nurture your child’s potential. We offer Early Learning Centers, Preschool, and Before & After school care. Your support will ensure that families who would like to have their children at one of our Early Learning Centers throughout Skagit County are able to do so.
Girls on the Run
Utilizing a fun, experience-based curriculum, GOTR creatively integrates running to inspire 3rd through 6th grade girls to be joyful, healthy and confident while celebrating their unique selves. The YMCA encourages girls to participate in the program regardless of their ability to pay, and thus scholarship many of the participants. Your support will allow the YMCA to continue to help more girls experience the life-changing adventures and pure joy of Girls on the Run.
Camp Anderson provides a traditional day camping experience on the shores of Lake 16 for 9 weeks of adventure and fun each summer. Children are able to enjoy activities including canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, archery, nature, sports, skits, songs and much more. Your support ensures that any youth that would like to experience this amazing camp experience receives a scholarship to do so.
