Important Y Membership Update 11.16.20

COVID-19 Changes Beginning 11/17

Dear Y Family,

By now you most likely know that additional measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 will begin tomorrow (Tuesday, November 17th) as announced by Governor Inslee. The new measures will require closure of our Wellness Center and gym. Our pool will remain open to members for reservation as we have confirmed with the Governor’s office that the guidance for pools remains unchanged. Y childcare and YMCA Oasis will remain open as usual to continue serving our Skagit youth through essential services.

Any reservations that have been made for in-person classes or for the Wellness Center and gymnasium for tomorrow or later will be automatically canceled. However, all lap lane reservations and virtual classes will remain as scheduled. Many of our fitness instructors will be moving their usual in-person fitness classes to virtual, so please watch for your favorite classes under our virtual class list.

11/17 update: Splashball will be canceled. Families currently enrolled have been credited a prorated amount for the remaining sessions.

Our team is hard at work scheduling additional swim times for lap swimming in the lap pool and family swim reservations in the teaching pool and lazy river. As we open additional swim times, we will be opening on Saturdays as well. To schedule a lap swim reservation or reserve your spot in one of our virtual fitness classes, please visit skagitymca.org.

The spread of the virus over the past few weeks has been greater than any time since the beginning of the pandemic. We all hope that in supporting these measures we will slow the spread, prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed and save lives. There are things we can all do to help fight this virus including wearing a mask, socially distancing, washing our hands often and limiting social gatherings.

We ask that you also keep your membership as we support our community together. Our Y is still serving our community through early learning childcare, school-age learning enhancement in partnership with our school districts and at YMCA Oasis. Your Y needs your support as we continue to serve the needs of our community. If you would like to change the status of your membership, please visit our website for our Refunds, Holds & Cancellations policy

We built this Y together. Together we can sustain our Y through this time of crisis and beyond.

With gratitude,
Dean
