Sedro-Woolley Summer Programming

The Skagit Y is excited to be expanding its program offerings to Sedro-Woolley in Summer 2022! We are launching two brand-new programs for families and youth in the Woolley area, including Stop, Drop, & Run (a running program and drop-in service) and Youth Flag Football (in partnership with the NFL Flag Football program).

Stop, Drop, & Run

Stop, Drop, & Run is comprised of a youth drop-in center and a running program for youth in Sedro-Woolley and the surrounding communities.

It is a FREE program for all participants thanks to Summer Experiences & Enrichment for Kids (SEEK) grant funding. Youth are invited to take advantage of the drop-in center, the running program, or both!

The drop-in center (open to youth ages 12-17) will have a variety of enrichment activities available for youth and educational opportunities spanning a wide range of interests. Learning topics include nutrition, financial literacy, physical fitness, writing, and arts-based content.

Program Dates and Times:

June 27 – August 19; 12:00pm – 6:00pm (M-F)

The running program (open to youth grades 5-12) is a great opportunity to train with experienced running coaches. Runners will be grouped based on current fitness levels and ages and follow a training program. Participants will train for an end-of-summer celebratory 5k/10k run on Saturday, August 13 at a yet-to-be-determined location. (Participating runners will get free shoes and gear, too!)

Program Dates and Times:

June 27 – August 19; 4:30-6:00pm (M-F)

Youth Flag Football

Open to ages 6-13, Youth Flag Football will follow the NFL Flag Football curriculum. NFL FLAG leagues are no contact, giving boys and girls of all abilities a chance to develop their fundamental football skills in a positive, inclusive environment.

The flag football program is structured so that kids can discover the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and friendship—both on and off the field.

Teams will play up to two games each week at the Winnie Houser Park and Play Fields in Sedro-Woolley.

Program Dates: Week of June 6 to Week of July 25

Volunteer with the Y!

We are currently looking for volunteers to help run the flag football program! CPR/First Aid training is required for all volunteers but the Skagit Y will provide this training for free. If you’re already certified, just show your card to Y staff during your first event.
