The YMCA Chinook Swim Team is a great opportunity for swimmers to challenge themselves and have fun in a positive environment. YMCA Chinook Swim Team is different from other swim teams because our coaches teach young swimmers to be the best they can be while emphasizing the four YMCA values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. YMCA Chinook Swim Team has had many regional and national level competitors, but our goal is the same for every swimmer: improve their ability and have fun!

Our coaches pride themselves on creating an environment where kids from every walk of life feel like they belong on the YMCA Chinook Swim Team. Every swimmer has a place with Chinooks. Swimmers must have a minimum swimming level of Stage 5 or 6, or 50 yards of Front and Back Crawl, and 25 yards of Breaststroke and Butterfly. A YMCA Membership is required to be on the team.

Our Chinook parents play a vital role in the success of the team beyond bringing their swimmers to practice and swim meets. Parents help manage swim meets, acting as timers, officials, score keepers, and the refreshment crew. Parents are also key to organizing and supporting the fund raisers throughout the year, which provide dollars for swim gear, awards, and numerous other expenses to help Chinook swimmers achieve their goals as individuals and as a team.

The Chinook Parent Organization meets several times a year, and will host a meeting a meeting each Fall to help answer questions for parents of new Chinook swimmers.
