YMCA Oasis serve youth ages 13-17 in our community. The Shelter provides beds, home cooked meals, and the support they need to improve their lives, while the Daylight Center provides a free safe place for all teens to gather during the day.
The YMCA Oasis Teen Shelter, with the support of our community, serves youth every night of the year. We depend on the community to support us with their gently worn clothing, enough food to feed very hungry teenagers, certain household items, and, of course, monetary support. Here at YMCA Oasis, we serve well balanced meals to multiple youth every day of the year. If you would like to support the nutritional needs of our youth we are always looking for:
The YMCA Oasis Teen Shelter is a State Licensed Emergency Shelter serving runaway and homeless youth 13-17 years of age. We are a welcoming, safe, and secure temporary home where youth who are in need of emergent care can come every night of the year. All youth that we serve will have their most basic needs met upon entry. Every youth is cooked a warm meal, is offered clean clothing, takes a warm shower, has a caring adult ready and willing to listen to them no matter what time of night they are ready to talk, and a bed to rest their mind and body for the night. Youth will meet with a case manager and will be referred to services that will help them to find and meet their needs no matter what they are. YMCA Oasis works with community providers through a referral basis to make available every possible option for the youth we serve.
Thanks to the generous support from the Jack & Shirley McIntyre Foundation, the YMCA Oasis Daylight Center (ODLC) has it's doors open to community teens ages 13-17 365 days a year. The program is free and youth do not need to be homeless or at-risk to access this program. This means that Shelter and community teens have a safe place to gather during the day that will include meals, arts and crafts, educational workshops, and a computer lab for vocational and academic support.
In 2017, the youth we served were comfortable enough with Oasis Staff to share their concerns. Some of which were:
YMCA Oasis Teen Shelter & Daylight Center would not be available for youth in our community without the generous support of our community. A special thank you to our sponsors and community partners:
