Learn. Grow. Thrive.
With over a dozen sites serving children ages infant to 5th grade, Skagit Y Childcare aims to fit the unique needs of families across our diverse Skagit community. Our programs are designed to provide parents and guardians with a safe environment where their children can gain knowledge, learn practical skills, and develop positive values.
Our qualified staff are dedicated to the safety and personal development of each child and help start them on the path to becoming strong and confident future adults. Whether your child is participating in a structured activity or free play, our staff teach all Y children the Y values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility by demonstrating and reinforcing these positive behaviors.

Early Learning
Year-Round
Y Early Learning Centers (ELCs) are carefully designed to expand imaginations and instill positive values for children ages 1 month – 6 years. Our staff are skilled in areas of developmental growth and give children opportunities to learn, grow, and play each day. Our ELCs work with the local school districts to ensure children are kindergarten ready. Both wraparound childcare and full-time preschool care available.
Both part-time and full-time care is available at our ELCs.
All of our ELCs are licensed by the Department of Children, Youth, and Family (DCYF).
DSHS subsidies are accepted and scholarships are offered to those who qualify. Starting in September 2022, families with a Family Membership at the Skagit Y will receive a discount on ELC program fees.

Blended Preschool
School-Year Only
Y Blended Preschool (offered in partnership with the Sedro-Woolley School District) focuses on the developmental needs of children ages 3 – 4 years old and uses a curriculum that aligns with local school districts to ensure kindergarten readiness. Y Preschools are “blended” as children with special needs and typically developing children learn alongside one another. This helps all children develop problem-solving skills while practicing kindness, compassion, and respect.
Blended Preschool is part-time care only. Hours for Central Elementary (Sedro-Woolley) are as follows:
Morning:
- Tuesday (9am-noon)
- Wednesday (10am-noon)
- Thursday (9am-noon)
Afternoon:
- Tuesday (12:30-3:30pm)
- Wednesday (1:00-3:30pm)
- Thursday (12:30-3:30pm)
If you are looking for full-time preschool care, our Early Learning Centers offer full-time care.
No, Blended Preschool is not licensed care.
Please contact Bookkeeper Darci Hart.
School-Age
School-Year Only
Y School-Age before- and after-school programs are offered for children in grades K-5 and provide children with homework support, physical activity, snacks, and enrichment activities. We’ve partnered with numerous schools in Skagit County, with locations in the Mount Vernon, Burlington-Edison, Sedro-Woolley, and Anacortes school districts.
School-Age programs are part-time care, with both before- and after-school times available.
All of our School-Age locations are licensed by the Department of Children, Youth, and Family (DCYF).
