Oasis

The YMCA Oasis Youth Shelter provides youth with a safe place to spend the night every day of the year. Other than being age 13-17, there are no strict eligibility requirements.

Youth might need to stay overnight for a variety of reasons, such as family conflict, crisis, feeling unsafe at home, not having anywhere to go, or just needing a healthy break from family. No reason is not valid! We are first-come, first-served, and all youth have access to a case manager who will work with them and their family to locate safe, stable, and permanent housing.

  • 91-day stay confidential Emergency Shelter for homeless or runaway teens ages 13-17.
  • Low barrier, first come first serve.
  • Home cooked meals, showers, laundry services, a clothing closet, and case management to help you find permanent housing.

The YMCA Oasis Youth Shelter is an emergency shelter for teens ages 13-17 facing homelessness or housing insecurity. The shelter serves a high number of historically marginalized and underserved communities, including Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA2+ teens.

It is an essential place for young people who have nowhere else to turn. It provides not just a roof over their heads, but the comprehensive support they need to overcome trauma, develop essential life skills, and get back on their feet. Youth are provided with their basic necessities of shelter, clothing, food, school and hygiene supplies, and access to supportive adults who are trained in best practices for serving at-risk and traumatized youth.

While in the program, youth collaborate with a Case Manager to develop a housing and educational goal. Youth are held to universal Community Guidelines and rules of the shelter, but their individual service plans are developed in accordance with their developmental stage.

The new, 6,000 sq. ft shelter will feature the following:

  • Six bedrooms with single, double and triple occupancy capabilities
  • ADA accessible rooms and bathrooms for youth and staff
  • Added parking for staff & visitors
  • Two story building: Main Floor (shelter bedrooms, kitchen, common areas); Basement (staff offices, meeting rooms, bedrooms)
  • Added space for donations, clothing closets and storage
