Curious About Your Property Taxes?

Property assessment notices will hit mailboxes in late October—and we’ve got the inside scoop! 📨

Join us at the Y for a lively, plain-English conversation with Skagit County Assessor Danny Hagen. He’ll walk us through:

  • How property assessments are made

  • What affects your home’s value

  • What steps you can take if you don’t agree with your assessment

Pro Tip from the County:
If you’d like to appeal, you’ll need to file a Petition for Appeal with the Skagit County Board of Equalization by the deadline (July 1 or 30 days after your notice date—whichever’s later). Bring evidence—like comparable home sales or repair estimates—to make your case. If you’re still not satisfied, you can appeal further to the Washington State Board of Tax Appeals within 30 days of the Board’s decision.

Danny is known for his upbeat, approachable style—so bring your questions, your curiosity, and maybe even your calculator. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how property assessments work and how to be your own best advocate!

The Sleep-Health Connection: Bidirectional Impact & Treatments.

Your sleep and your overall health are constantly influencing one another. Join this community talk to explore the crucial bidirectional link between sleep and major health conditions. As an example of bidirectionalism, insufficient sleep can lead to obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes, while these conditions can also cause sleep disruptions like sleep apnea.’

We’ll clearly distinguish between primary sleep disorders and secondary sleep disorders. You’ll receive a clear overview of effective treatments for managing these issues, covering everything from behavioral approaches such as CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia) to other current medical options.

Bring your lunch; herbal tea provided.
