Skagit Y Wilderness Club

Skagit Y Wilderness Club

Skagit Y Wilderness Club:

This unique program will engage elementary students grades 1-5  in hands-on learning and outdoor adventures outside of school hours.

The priorities of the program are threefold:

  • Outdoor Recreation: Students will spend time outdoors engaging in educational activities each session. Fostering enjoyment of outdoor activities will promote physical health and social well-being while connecting with the natural world.
  • Environmental Education: Through hands-on learning and place-based education, students will learn about different aspects of the natural environment and develop values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty. Example lessons that students will participate in include learning about plants/animals, the seasons/weather patterns, the water cycle, and soil/decomposing process.
  • Social and Emotional Health: We aim to support the whole child’s development while creating memories, having fun, and building a foundation for stewardship and love for nature.
