Y Kids Summer Day Camp

Y Kids Summer Day Camp is licensed camp that takes place at various elementary schools in Skagit County and is open to youth entering first through sixth grade.

Character development, emotional growth, and exploration are key pillars of this camp, and weekly themes, games, and activities for all interests provide campers with a great experience!

Families with children already enrolled in one of the Y’s School-Age programs will be sent a link through Brightwheel prior to February 29.

2024 Camp Schedule

Y Kids Summer Day Camp is a fantastic camp for kids looking to learn, play, and grow during their summer break! Kids learn social skills, develop positive relationships with their peers, and explore the beauty of Skagit County. Campers walk away from camp more independent, resilient, and with a greater sense of identity.

Registration FAQs

Y Member Fee: $250/week

Non-member Fee: $300/week

There is a $50 nonrefundable and nontransferable fee charged at registration to secure your spot at camp. We will bill you for the remaining amount the Wednesday before your week of camp starts, and dues must be paid by Thursday of that week. Billing question? Please note that to receive member rates for programs, your membership must be obtained before the program start date and remain current throughout the entire program session. 

If your membership expires during the program session and you do not renew, the YMCA will bill your payment method on file the amount difference between the member and the non-member rate. If this payment is not made, you may be dropped from the program.

We understand that life happens, and you may need to withdraw your child from camp. Please contact Darci Hart at [email protected] if you need to withdraw your camper. To avoid paying a $75 cancellation fee, please provide at least two weeks notice.

The $50 deposit paid at registration is nonrefundable and nontransferable.

Y Kids Summer Day Camp is covered by state subsidies, so if your family currently receives financial assistance at one of the Y’s School-Age programs through state subsidies, they can be applied towards this camp.

If you don’t receive state subsidies, you may be eligible for a Y for All discount. Our Y For All program provides financial assistance for families in need. To learn more and apply, please visit our Y for All page.

Yes, your child can attend both Camp Anderson and Y Kids Summer Day Camp, but we ask that you don’t sign up for both camps for the same week and then later drop one of them.

Camp FAQs

  • Water Bottle labeled with name

  • Backpack to carry items for field trips.
  • Sunscreen, labeled with name.
  • Walking shoes (we walk A LOT) and waters shoes for water play.
  • Swimsuit and Towel for daily water activities.
  • Please do not bring any toys from home, including but not limited to spending money, stuffed animals, all electronics (video games, tablets, etc.) and trading cards.
  • Cell phones, smart watches, or any other device that plays music, takes pictures or records video/sound or sends/receives calls or text are not allowed.
  • Every week has a weekly theme! Activities, field trips, and lesson plans are typically tied into that weekly theme. Throughout the day, campers will participate in arts and crafts, character development, team building, health and nutrition, sports, fine arts, reading science, Y Values, and more! Throughout the day there are breaks scheduled for snack/meal times, bathroom time and sunscreen time.  
  • Program hours 7:00am-6:00pm.  
  • Children Must arrive by 9:30am.  
  • Children can’t be picked up or dropped off while on field trips.  
  • Field Trips happen 3 or 4 times per week between the hours of 9:30am-3:30/4:00pm  
  • Activity Schedules and Newsletter will be sent the Friday before each week of camp 

We maintain a maximum ratio of 10 children per leader at Camp Anderson. Our counselors are responsible forplanning and implementing activities; managing their group of youth; and maintaining a safe environment for all participants. All staff have cleared a Washington State Patrol criminal record check.

For Parents

  • After registering, you will be sent any necessary/appropriate forms through Brightwheel. Please review and sign these documents as they are sent to you.
  • After completing these forms, you will be scheduled for billing. You will be billed for the remaining fee a week before your camper starts camp; payment is due by Thursday before camp.
  • Keep an eye on Brightwheel prior to your camper’s week at camp for a newsletter with additional information on the week of camp your child is attending.

To ensure authorized pick-ups, staff will require all parents/guardians to sign their camper in and out of the program. Please do not drop your child off in front of the building(s); the YMCA is not responsible for children until they are signed in. 

For safety reasons, camp staff will only release your child(ren) to those persons indicated on your registration form. Written notification of another authorized person is required for us to release the child into their care. If we receive no written notification and cannot reach you to verify the identification of the person, we will not allow your child to leave the program.  

Identification may be required of any person picking up a child, including the parents. Please inform all appropriate people of this procedure. For any unauthorized parent/guardian contact we need to be aware of, please provide a letter and state-issued identification (ex. Driver’s License, Passport, etc.)

  • Children must arrive by 9:30am 
  • Children can’t be picked up or dropped off while on field trips.
