Dance is for everyone! It’s a fun, multi-generational activity that builds confidence, improves fitness, increases flexibility, and supports emotional well-being. No matter your age or background, dance brings people together! Check out our upcoming programs below.

Spring 2026: Ballet I (Ages 4-6)
This 12-week ballet class introduces young dancers to the fundamentals of ballet in a fun, supportive environment. Designed specifically for ages 4–6, the program focuses on developing coordination, balance, rhythm, and basic ballet movements through age-appropriate exercises, music, and creative movement. Each class encourages self-expression, builds confidence, and fosters a love for dance. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to move, learn, and have fun! A tutu will be provided for the end of program performance. Your dance instructor is Amy Hansen!
Classes will take place from 11:00 – 11:45 am on Saturdays in Studio A

BALLET ATTIRE & CLASSROOM GUIDELINES
To make sure everyone can move safely and comfortably:
✅ Wear a leotard and tights, or snug-fitting dancewear. Skirts are optional.
✅ Ballet slippers are required (Please email the Youth Program Coordinator if you need assistance acquiring ballet slippers).
✅ Hair should be pulled back and secured away from the face.
✅ No jewelry, toys, or distracting accessories in class.
✅ Bring a water bottle (ONLY water allowed in studios).
✅ Use the restroom before class to keep sessions running smoothly.
COMMITMENT & ATTENDANCE
Teamwork makes the dream work! We ask all students to commit to the full program.

This 12-week ballet class offers a structured introduction to classical ballet technique for dancers ages 7–9. Students will build a strong foundation through barre and center work, focusing on posture, alignment, musicality, and graceful movement. The class also encourages discipline, creativity, and self-expression in a supportive environment. Whether new to ballet or continuing from previous training, dancers will grow in skill and confidence each week. A tutu will be provided for the end of program performance. This 12-week creative dance class is designed for guardians and their little ones to move, explore, and bond through music and imaginative play. Together, you’ll enjoy age-appropriate movement activities that support early motor development, rhythm, coordination, and social skills. Each class blends storytelling, songs, and simple dance exercises to spark creativity and joyful connection in a safe, welcoming environment. The program introduces basic grooves and footwork using games, imagination, and age-appropriate music. With a focus on coordination, expression, and confidence, students will begin to learn simple choreography and create freestyle with joy. How Long She’s Been at the Y: Started in October 2022
Favorite Part About Teaching: Witnessing the transformation of participants from the start to the end of class. Something shifts when we move and dance together in community—it’s both uplifting and deeply healing.
Favorite Exercise: Anything outdoors! Besides dancing, I love hiking, swimming, biking, kayaking, gardening, yoga, meditation, and martial arts.

Classes challenge dancers to refine their coordination, learn longer combinations, and develop their performance quality, all set to age-appropriate, high-energy music. This level inspires creativity, confidence, and a love for movement—whether on stage or at the next school dance! A T-shirt will be provided for the end of program performance. Spring 2026: Musical Theater (Ages 7-9)
This 12-week musical theater class introduces young performers to the exciting world of song, dance, and storytelling in a fun, supportive environment. Designed for ages 7–9, the program focuses on building confidence, stage presence, rhythm, and basic musical theater movement through age-appropriate choreography, simple acting exercises, and expressive performance skills. Each class encourages creativity, teamwork, and self-expression while helping dancers learn how to bring characters and stories to life on stage. No prior experience is needed—just enthusiasm, imagination, and a love for performing! Students will showcase their skills in an end-of-program performance. A T-shirt will be provided for the performance. Your dance instructor is Arriann Bockenkamp!
